After reading all of the bad reviews about the Xyron Personal Cutting System, I went to look for an alternative tool.
There’s a tool called “Wishblade” that’s also a personal media cutter that allows you to:
- Size letters and shapes to fit your layout — from 1/2 inch all the way up to 8 inches.
- Cut them from cardstock, printed paper, vellum and other media.
- Choose from fonts and shapes in the Wishblade Design Library.
- Create your own images to cut using your photos, clipart or personal drawings.
“Wishblade is a desktop cutter that connects to your personal computer. Using the Wishblade software, just type or insert the image you want to cut, size it, rotate it to fit your project, insert your paper into Wishblade and cut it out! It’s easy and it’s quick.”
It’s also created by Xyron, and costs more than twice the cost of the Xyron Personal Cutting System. But I’m sure it works a lot better for that price!

THE WISHBLADE MAY BE CERATINLY AN EFFECTIVE TOOL TO CUT AND STORE PICTURES ON YOUR PC TO SUIT YOUR SPECIFICATIONS , BUT , IT ALSO IS SUBJECT TO THE PERFECTION OF THE TECHNOLOGY , THE AVAILABILITY IN THE MARKET , AND DEMAND FROM THE CONSUMERS.

There are lots of Cutting systems available out there, as to perfecting the method, take a look at http://www.pazzles.com These people really know scrapbooking, I frist saw them with the Creative Cutter PRO about 3 years ago! What an amazing machine, but you will need to have a computer to use it.
The Cricut from provocraft seems like a good solution to the Xyron machine! maybe it won’t seem so much like a toy:)

The pazzles mini still needs work. Lots of folks having cutting issues with this machine. The company response is to buy a new computer!!! Wishblade has great reviews, works like a charm.

The Cricut is not anything like Wishblade. The Cricut requires a “card” which has a few preprogrammed designs and letters and numbers that are scaleable from 1/4″ - 3″ (if I remember). You need to buy each individual card font for $80 a pop. You need to apply adhesive to each letter. It does not work with your pc… some people find this a plus, but I find it extremely limiting, as would most who are computer literate.

I just purchased and am in the process of returning this unit. The directions to install specifically state not windows logo approved. I called the Company and they claimed there wasn’t a problem. Well, once installed my other photo programs did not work properly and I am very disappointed with the machine. It is going back.I had to remove and reinstall my photo programs, my computer is large, fairly new and too expensive to have this unit louse it up!
